NESE ANEMONEThe Japanes Anemone is great for brightening up your garden in late summer and into the autumn. It is fast growing and is great in either a sunny spot or in partial shade.
From August to October (depending on the variety you choose) you can enjoy blooms in white, pink and purple/pink. Fully hardy, some of them are semi evergreen.
Often used in the landscaping of Japanese Gardens (hence the name!) they look great against dark coloured rocks and can always be relied on to brighten up a shady corner in your garden.
They prefer a m
oist and humus-rich soil, will spread up to over a metre and can also grow to over a metre high. You can lift and divide the plants in early spring or late autumn. Cut stalks back when the flowers have faded and tidy up dead leaves in spring. They will flourish if you mulch around the base in spring with either well rotted compost or mulch. Anemones can be cut for indoor use and cutting blooms not fully opened early in the day will ensure that they last longer.
